Can I Get professional Results from a home 110v Compressors? |
|
Absolutely! IF a Professional Spray Gun is used.
A Spray Gun, not the compressor determines spray quality. At SGW we specialize and carry hi end European and Japanese Models that run on 110v compressors with NO COMPROMISE ON FINISH QUALTY. In fact our top 110v Spray gun often spray better than 15 cfm 5 HP spray guns. (Most Top USA guns require large 220v compressors).
How do they do it? Great manufacturing and Great Designs. |

What about an inexpensive gun from my Local Home Improvement Store or Even Low CFM guns from East Wood? or Wagner? |
|
To us, you will not get a great finish from home improvement guns - and they will typically start to leak in a few months. A typical phone conversation starts, "I am tired of fighting with my local $60 HVLP gun and want something better..."
Even decent 4CFM guns that don't leak like expensive guns from East Wood, will not finish close to our professional models. Our guns are used by true hi-end professionals in every industry from BMW, Mercedez, Boing, Awlgrip, Lexus, ML Campbell, Wood Refinishers of America, etc.
Wagner are consumer products we do not go there... |

What if I don't own a compressor which one should I get? |
|
SGW recommends a 1 1/2" HP min compressor for serious work. 2HP is better and we like a 8 gallon or larger. Note: A 110v compressor will limit you to less than 8cfm. Almost every USA gun requires more air. That is why many stores will tell you you need a really big compressor to spray HVLP. Or they will give you the 7cfm hobby guns that are not great and do not last long... or a 4cfm east gun that has a lot of orange peel.
We suggest at least a 5cfm model compressor at a min. You can find imports for under $150. But we suggest you spend around $300-$400 on a good compressor that you can use for other projects and tools as well.
For example of small compressors:
Grex VD2016T
Makita MAC5200
Hitachi EC119SA 63.7 lbs 5.3 cfm

What if I don't want to spend a lot of money on a new compressor is there another options? |
|
Yes, we have smaller guns with 8" fan patterns that run on a 1HP 3CFM compressor see here.
Also, you can add a larger tank to an existing compressor, you can chain 2 cheaper compressors together, there are all in one options (see to the right) and even PROFESSIONAL SPRAY CAN systems. (These ARE NOT your local spray can).
Also as mentioned there are import compressors that produce 5CFM for as little as $130.00. |
|
What if I am in a different industry? Wood, Plane, Boat, Auto - Or even want to use LATEX house paint? |
|
No Problem: You need to get different size nozzles for different types of work. Most stores only carry automotive guns or Hobby Latex guns for about $60-$100 that are not professional. Most guns top out at 1.8mm which is too small for latex. etc.
When choosing a gun from us, simply select the nozzles that will work for your job in the drop down menus. |
